How many Sessions do I need?

We are all different so it's hard to say. The first session involves me listening to your issues and deciding with you if counselling is the best way forward. Some situations can be helped with short term counselling ie.up to 6 sessions.

Other situations might take longer, e.g if you need to work through issues from your childhood or you have a number of inter-related issues .Then, I might suggest we make a start; review our progress periodically and decide together when it's the right time to end your sessions (open ended counselling or therapy).

Either way, you remain in control. It's never helpful for you to continue in counselling beyond a point that you find is useful.One of my roles as your counsellor is to be sensitive to your needs and help you make the right decisions for you.

What does Counselling cost?

My fee is £45.00 per counselling session. Concessions might be available if you are unemployed or on a low income, please ask. I am happy to discuss the fee with you before you attend. You can telephone or e-mail for more information on fees.

What if I can't make an appointment?

I charge for all sessions that are booked . The fee for the initial session is paid on the day. All subsequent session fees are due in advance at the time of booking.I normally book one session ahead and this fee is not refundable.

What does Confidentiality mean?

Confidentiality means that the specific content of our sessions is confidential.All Counsellors are required to discuss their work with a suitably qualified supervisor. This process is to enhance the counsellors effectiveness and to ensure that you receive ethical and appropriate care. Supervision does not require that individual clients are identified.

However, I would consider breaking confidentiality if I thought there was a serious risk of harm to yourself or another person. In this situation I would endeavour to inform you of my concerns prior to speaking to anyone else or taking any action.
